Exhibition 'Microsillon 360'
The main exhibition will take place in a 550m2 space, a former warehouse of the Compagnie du Mont- Blanc, featuring the work of artists Cécile Beau, Damien Caccia, Charlotte Charbonnel, Julian Charrière, Laetitia de Chocqueuse, Aurélien Froment, Noémie Goudal, Anouk Kruithof, Tomás Predka, Baptiste Rabichon, Enrique Ramirez, Tomoko Sauvage and Rafal Topolewski will be presented. This exhibition takes place in 3 parts: ‘moving solidity’, ‘transformation and liquefaction’, ‘flow, disappearance, appearance’. The 1st part talks about glaciers as we know them, that is to say mainly in solid form; the 2nd part evokes fusion, liquefaction, evaporation, change of state and matter; while the 3rd part evokes the fluidity of our time which is found in particular in new modes of representation, in ‘melted’ sculptures, and in a relationship to disappearance and the immaterial.
Designed in the 1930s for the Alpine mountains, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret used the dodecahedron shape with industrial materials such as aluminum to model the Refuge Tonneau.
This light and easily mountable structure allows both to limit wind resistance and to adapt in extreme temperatures or snow. This ‘high-tech’ concept opened the way for a new type of architecture in the high mountains.
The Refuge will house a sound installation by Sebastien Cabour and Pauline Delwaulle, proposed by Villa du Parc, contemporary art center of national interest, Annemasse.

Exhibition 'Refuges de pointe'
In dialogue with the futuristic architecture of the high mountain huts from the 20th and 21st centuries, the architect Dillon Garris will design a pavilion, the Mirror Pod. This contemporary architecture is also inspired by spaceships, whose shapes are often comparable to those of some mountain huts. Modern huts like vessels are designed for environments hostile to humans: they seem like shelters outside the civilized world and outside of time.
The interior space will host an exhibition with the works of artists Aurore Bagarry and Julian Charrière, also in partnership with Villa du Parc.
The ‘Refuge de Pointe’ exhibition will focus on the evolution of altitude architecture over the past century. As the starting point of this documentation, the Refuge Tonneau designed by Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret in 1938 will be introduced as a source of influence for high mountain refuges up to today. Architecture has adapted to this challenging environment, facing extreme temperatures, between snow, ice, winds and unstable soils, thanks to the use of new materials and a best technology. The concern for autonomy of these shelters has notably pushed architects and builders to use more durable materials and renewable energies.

6pm: El lamento del pájaro y el velero invertido performance by the artist Enrique Ramírez
(Venue: CMB warehouse, 82 chemin des Sauberands)
To mark the opening of this second edition, the sound artist Tomoko Sauvage will perform her electro-acoustic performance 'Water Bowls'. Influenced by traditional Indian instruments, the artist is at the origin of a new type of electro-aquatic music combining water, hydrophones and porcelain and glass bowls. Through this work, the artist experiments with the sound of water to sublimate random fluids.
‘El lamento del pájaro y el velero invertido’ is a sound performance by artist Enrique Ramirez. Inspired by thousand-year-old instruments of the Chorrera culture in Central America, the artist has built curious instruments activated by water and voice. Thanks to a synthesizer, a tool of contemporary music, these ancient sounds go through time, circulate and are constantly transformed. The work translates a sound fluidity and also refers to disappearance.
